Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña, Jr. was replaced in the bottom of the sixth inning of tonight’s game against the Miami Marlins by Eli White after dealing with an apparent thumb issue one inning prior. When getting ready to take the field in the bottom of the fifth, Acuña, Jr. lingered near the dugout while his thumb was examined before jogging back to right field. Acuña, Jr. had singled in two runs in the top of

the inning. The star outfielder has been snake-bitten by injuries throughout his career and hopefully this was purely a precautionary measure with the team leading the Marlins 6-2 at the time of his removal. Update #1: The Braves official statement was removal due to “pain in his left thumb.” Update #2: The Braves announced that X-Rays on his thumb were negative and he is day-to-day (but then again, aren’t we all).
